Luis Marquez. Mexican sketches of the 1930s.

We know about monumental sculpture, monumental painting… But does monumental photography exist? When looking at the works of Luis Marquez (1899-1978), a Mexican photographer, you believe that yes – there’s monumental photography.  Here you are a series of his hand-coloured shots of Mexico of 1930s. Subjects include musicians and dancers in traditional dress, vendors displaying their wares, and people posing in colorful settings.
